Vrushika Mehta, who moved to Canada after getting married, made a trip to Mumbai specifically for Navratri celebrations. The actress from Dil Dosti Dance (D3) expresses, "As a Gujarati, my love for Navratri and garba runs deep in my veins. I can't imagine a complete celebration without it. The music pumps me up, and I can start dancing garba at any moment (laughs)." She shares, "I get thrilled to dress up, catch up with friends, and dance. Even though I have always lived in Mumbai, I've been told that to fully experience the festive spirit of Navratri, I should visit Gujarat. It's definitely on my bucket list, and I aspire to make it a reality someday."
Reflecting on her childhood memories of the festival, she recalls, "My mom used to adorn me and to keep me still while she applied three dots on my chin, she would tempt me with chocolates (laughs). I was very competitive and aimed to win a competition every night. It was all about expressing myself through dance and feeling like a little superstar."
Describing her preferred Navratri attire, she mentions, "I adore flared chaniya cholis, but I opt for lightweight ones to ensure comfort and graceful spins. When it comes to jewelry, I choose heavier pieces for shoots to make a statement and delicate ones for dancing, selecting accessories that complement my outfit."Discussing her childhood memories of the festival, she expressed her desire to excel in garba competitions during her younger days. She reminisced about her mother dressing her up and keeping her still while painting three dots on her chin by enticing her with chocolates. She was driven by a strong competitive spirit and aimed to win a prize every night through lively dancing, feeling like a shining star. When it comes to her preferred Navratri attire, she leans towards lightweight flared chaniya cholis for comfort and graceful spins. For jewelry, she opts for heavier pieces for reels but chooses delicate ones that complement her outfit for dancing. She eagerly anticipates the day when she can share the joy of celebrating Navratri with her husband, who has a contrasting garba style that she admires and hopes to learn. While they haven't yet celebrated Navratri together, they had fun playing garba during their wedding events. Vrushika fondly recalls her fondness for spins and popatiyu, and she enjoys incorporating dodhiyu and trikoniya moves into her routines. Among her beloved garba songs, she particularly adores the energetic vibes of "Dakla" and praises Falguni Pathak's iconic tracks that set the perfect Navratri mood. Reflecting on her cherished on-set memories, Vrushika fondly recalls the lively atmosphere during the shoots of "Dholi Taro Dhol Baaje" on the set of Dil Dosti Dance, which involved enthusiastic garba celebrations that enhanced their D3 get-togethers.
